Educational Advocacy

Educational advocates partner with families and schools to ensure students with learning differences get the support they need to thrive. They bridge communication, guide the 504 or IEP process, and foster collaboration between families and schools while focusing on student success.

An effective educational advocate can align Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), 504 plans, and Individualized Education Programs (IEP) with the data collected in psychological evaluations and Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) to ensure that academic and social accommodations are appropriately tailored to a child’s needs.

Educational advocates can assist parents in drafting written requests for services, conduct classroom observations to provide meaningful insights into how students are functioning in their learning environments, and support families through school 504 and IEP meetings as an informed member of your team.
